As you said there're a lot of ways to do so.
If you need just the deal information, I've used this function bellow:
FTR_GET_DEALDATA
There you can get the main information about the deals.
If you want to see the exposure in a key date you can combine with the previous function with TPM_GET_TRL_POSITION
